Sb Vine Shoot

This morning it is cool and foggy in the Valley, a good thing as it was pretty hot yesterday. Nights in the 50s are essential when we’re having such hot days in order to keep the acid in balance in the ripening fruit. Reports from the field indicate that we are roughly 5-7 days later in the maturation of Cabernet Sauvignon as compared to 07 and 08.

I’m told things are looking good out there. Tod Mostero, winemaker for Dominus Estate reports that shoots are browning nicely in conjunction with veraison (color change), and the vines are showing very little stress — all very good signs for an excellent year.
